Finansparken is one of Norway’s largest timber office buildings.
Completed in 2019, the seven-storey, 14,000 m² building is home to the headquarters of SpareBank 1 SR-Bank. It was developed from the winning competition proposal by Helen & Hard, Saaha and Creation Holz. The structure is built almost entirely from timber, with four in-situ concrete cores providing lateral stability. Certified BREEAM-NOR Outstanding, the project is distinguished by an innovative timber-to-timber connection system that eliminates the need for steel connections in the primary structure.
Degree of Freedom was part of the competition-winning team alongside Helen & Hard and Saaha, providing structural engineering services from the competition stage through concept, preliminary and detailed design, as well as technical support during construction.
