{"id":2389,"date":"2026-08-01T09:53:21","date_gmt":"2026-08-01T09:53:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/freedom.degree\/projects\/norrtalje-movable-bridge\/"},"modified":"2026-08-01T09:53:21","modified_gmt":"2026-08-01T09:53:21","slug":"norrtalje-movable-bridge","status":"publish","type":"project","link":"https:\/\/freedom.degree\/de\/projects\/norrtalje-movable-bridge\/","title":{"rendered":"Norrt\u00e4lje Movable Bridge"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Designed in collaboration with NUNO Arkitektur, the bridge creates a new public space while allowing larger vessels to navigate through the harbour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Norrt\u00e4lje Bridge was developed as the winning proposal in an architectural competition for a new movable pedestrian bridge connecting the north and south quays in Norrt\u00e4lje, Sweden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The design responds to the contrasting character of its surroundings, linking the historic Sosietetsparken with the contemporary waterfront through a slender structure that combines structural efficiency with a refined architectural expression. The bridge also provides generous space for pedestrians and cyclists, while creating a place to stop and enjoy views of the harbour and the outer archipelago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Curved in plan, the bridge comprises four spans of approximately 13, 23.5, 19 and 18.5 metres. The two end spans are fixed, while the two central spans rotate about a central support to create a navigation channel. The opening mechanism was conceived as a simple and efficient solution, both structurally and operationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The steel deck is formed by box girders supporting steel cantilever ribs, longitudinal beams and a solid timber deck.
