{"id":2384,"date":"2026-08-01T09:45:53","date_gmt":"2026-08-01T09:45:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/freedom.degree\/projects\/farjestad-bridge\/"},"modified":"2026-10-14T15:17:12","modified_gmt":"2026-10-14T15:17:12","slug":"farjestad-bridge","status":"publish","type":"project","link":"https:\/\/freedom.degree\/de\/projects\/farjestad-bridge\/","title":{"rendered":"F\u00e4rjestad Bridge"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">F\u00e4rjestad Bridge creates a new pedestrian and cycle connection across the Klar\u00e4lven River in Karlstad, Sweden, linking the districts of R\u00e5torp and F\u00e4rjestad. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nearly 290 metres long, the bridge combines a lightweight steel structure with a gently curved alignment and varying deck widths to create a dynamic crossing that responds to its riverside setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inspired by the structure of insect wings, the design emphasises lightness, transparency and a close connection to the surrounding landscape. Galvanised steel grating, aluminium-painted steel and corten steel details reinforce the bridge&#8217;s light and elegant expression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Developed from the winning proposal in an architectural and engineering competition, the project demonstrates how structural engineering and architectural design can be combined to create elegant and sustainable urban infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Degree of Freedom contributed with the development of the bridge\u2019s steel structure. The team worked in close collaboration with the architects to achieve an elegant, lightweight solution that supports the bridge\u2019s architectural vision of transparency and minimal environmental impact.
